B7 Sub District: Northwest Girls Down McCook 39-27


(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest girls would prevail over McCook on Tuesday night 39-27. The two squads were deadlocked at 11 after the end of the first quarter. A smothering full-court press from Northwest would force a total of 28 turnovers. Despite 17 of those turnovers for McCook coming in the first half the Bison pulled away with a 5-4 2nd quarter to lead by one at the half, 16-15. The Vikings in the 3rd quarter would pull away with a 9-0 run to lead 26-19. Northwest would have the lead for good for the rest of the game leading 35-21 at the end of the third. McCook would have a 6-4 4th quarter over the Vikings. With the loss, McCook is now 10-11 on the season but not yet ruled out mathematically in the Class B power points as the Bison still have a chance to qualify for a district final. Northwest with the win is now 12-12 on the season and is now one win away from the state tournament as they will await their official destination from the NSAA.
